TSH Thanksgiving Celebration

This week, we had the pleasure of celebrating Thanksgiving with our team! We love the holiday season and think it’s a great time to bond and do fun things together as a team. This year, in the wake of the pandemic, we felt as though it was extra important to give back to our community. We feel it is important to pour support back into the community that we live in and really reflect what the reason for the season is all about. A lot of us take essential things such as food, a warm shelter in the cold months, clothes, etc. for granted, but truly that’s not a reality for everyone.

This year, we got up bright and early to volunteer at The Banquet, located in downtown Sioux Falls, to help serve breakfast to those who are not able to fill their tables this holiday season. The Banquet is a place where people can gather, receive nourishment, and experience love in action. They serve breakfast and dinner and in 2020, served over 200,00 meals. It is a volunteer-run organization, so all meals are prepped, prepared, and served by volunteers. We were able to help set up the dining space, wrap silverware (which brought a lot of us back to our days of waitressing!), and serve food and drinks to exactly 200 guests. We were able to be in conversation and greet those who came through the lines and experience the love that the small staff of The Banquet spreads to those who walk through their doors.

After serving, we were able to keep our Monday morning meeting tradition at Queen City Bakery, where we had coffee and talked through our recent and upcoming projects. We do this every week, to keep in touch with one another and ask any and all questions we might have with things that are coming down the pipeline!

Finally, we were able to eat our own little Thanksgiving lunch! Potluck style, we each made our favorite Thanksgiving dish to bring for the others to try. Val, Jeff, and Kerry surprised the rest of our team by having Jane Rae Events put together this beautiful setup. I mean come on… how pretty is this tablescape!? After we shot some content, we dug into the food and cracked open a bottle of wine from one of our clients, Ammunition Wine and Whiskey . We were able to take a breather from our chaotic schedules for a couple of hours to enjoy each other’s company, and share stories of our own family Thanksgiving traditions.

Overall, it was a great day! And from all of us at The Sampson House, we wish you a happy Thanksgiving full of great food, football, the Macy’s Day Parade, and whatever your family does to celebrate this season of giving.
