The Sampson House Summer Recap
As the leaves begin to change and we start swapping out our iced coffees for pumpkin-spiced lattes, The Sampson House team is taking a moment to reflect back on this summer and share some of our favorite memories of summer 2022!
Val:
The summer of 2022 flew by faster than any other. My summer highlights have primarily been surviving newborn life and adjusting to the beautiful chaos of three kids 4 and under. We welcomed baby #3 - Noah Michael and he has stolen my heart. Every day there’s been a highlight with him. This July we embarked on our first vacation as a family of 5 to our 4th annual Evergreen Lodge Northern Minnesota trip.
Every year we spend a week at Big Sand Lake with two other families. It’s been a true delight watching our kiddos grow each year and enjoy lake life together. Another summer highlight has been enjoying pool life with our girls. This year they’ve been brave enough to jump off the diving board. It’s bittersweet watching them grow. Cheers to a great summer. I’m now ready for fall!
Jeff:
A favorite of this summer was our trip to Northern Minnesota. We are in a chapter of life where it's the perfect trip for the family, the kids love it so much and we get to relax and enjoy the summer days with great friends.
Kerry:
Lolla Lolla Lolla! My boyfriend and I took a road trip to Chicago and saw MGK at Lollapalooza (insert fangirl scream)! On the way to Chicago, we stayed in a small town, went golfing, and had a relaxing night, which was the perfect palette cleanser from the usual hustle of life and into vacation mode.
Once we arrived in Chicago, we had too much fun taking scooters around the city, eating delicious food, going to museums, and soaking in city life. Back home, I love spending time with my family, fishing, golfing at local courses, bike rides, and attending my son's baseball games during the summer.
Reva:
This summer I spent time hanging out with friends, attending weddings, visiting family in Kansas City, going to summer concerts, keeping up with the teenager, camping, and riding and racing bikes.
Mikena:
My summer was full of quality time spent with my husband, friends, and a never-ending honey-do list of home projects to complete. My favorite times were our weekends spent on the lake and Cole and I's annual getaway to Kansas City to indulge in good food, explore new parts of the city, spend time with friends there, and all the road trip snacks on the long drive.
Jaci:
This summer was a busy one! I spent a lot of my time hanging out with friends and family at lake Okoboji, where I've grown up spending all of my summers there since I was a baby, attending/being in some of my best friend's weddings, spending weekends in Des Moines with my boyfriend, Alec, and taking family trips to both San Diego and Chicago. It's been a summer of go, go, go, but it's been the best of times spending it with all of my favorite people!
Shannon:
Recently, some friends and I headed east to Nashville. We of course purchased cowboy boots, as one does before visiting the country music capital of the world, and stood out like the tourists that we were! We hit up broadway and enjoyed live music at every stop, spent some time at super cool rooftop bars in the Gulch, and of course, ate our hearts out every step of the way! We had a blast!
Paige:
This summer my husband Brady and I took our son Cutler to San Diego! We loved spending time at the ocean, going to the zoo, eating delicious foods, and wandering around on the boardwalk. Watching Cutler see the ocean for the first time was so special and something I’ll remember forever! 🌴🌊
