HOW DID YOU FIRST LEARN ABOUT TSH AND WHAT DREW YOU TO US?
When I graduated college, I was on the job hunt for something in Sioux Falls. I came across The Sampson House and I remembered the name from The Addy's. I was drawn to them after looking at the clients and the work TSH has done. That's when I really fell in love with the company.
WHAT ARE 3 WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE SAMPSON HOUSE?
Friendly, collaborative, and chill.
WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON?
I'm currently working on brand extensions for both The Cookie Jar and Kusek Family Dentistry. I'm also building a brand for Cultivate Boutique. In between all of that, I am creating some content for Howalt+McDowell and doing photo shoots for Rebekah Scott Designs. It turns out I'm pretty busy!
WHAT DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME DOING WHEN YOU’RE NOT AT WORK?
Lots and lots of Netflix. I've also been cooking a lot and daydreaming about how I could decorate my new apartment.
WHEN DID YOU DEVELOP AN INTEREST IN GRAPHIC DESIGN?
I'd say when I was a senior in high school. I was in New York for a week and the opportunity to shadow my sister, Molly (who is also a graphic designer) It really opened my eyes to what could be done. From there, the more classes I took in college, the more I enjoyed it.
WHO WOULD BE YOUR DREAM CLIENT TO WORK ON HERE AT TSH, AND WHY?
Any kind of makeup brand would be really fun. I have a love for cosmetics so not only would I feel in my element, but I can imagine the ad campaigns being exciting to work on.
BEST ADVICE YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED?
"Life is short, you only get once chance, live it right! No one is going to hand you a tray full of happiness and life experience, you have to be proactive, you have to take steps to pursue happiness and make the most out of your life. I am absolutely sure the point of life is taking chances to pursue happiness. If you stay in your comfort zone forever you missed the point of life." -Eric (a friend of mine)
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOUR POSITION?
I have a lot of creative freedom with all of the brands I work with and I can jump around from project to project if I ever get stuck. And my coworkers are pretty cool too.
WHAT’S YOUR ULTIMATE BUCKET-LIST TRAVEL DESTINATION?
Ohhh, that's a really hard question because I want to go everywhere and do everything. But, the first thing that comes to mind is to go to the Netherlands and bike through the tulips while they're blooming.
FAVORITE RESTAURANT?
Everest Indian Cuisine. Hands down. Everything on the menu is good and I will never get sick of it.
3 INTERESTING THINGS ABOUT YOU:
1. I have 5 siblings: 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
2. When I was 16, I won a trip to New York to see Ed Sheeran and One Direction at Madison Square Garden.
3. My family had a lot of unique pets growing up. Besides our cats and dogs, I can remember having squirrels, a Red Tailed Hawk, parakeets, iguanas, and piranhas. The squirrels were by far the best.
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY LISTENING TO ON YOUR PLAYLIST?
What She Wants by ARIZONA
GO-TO SHOW ON NETFLIX?
Parks and Recreation, of course.
WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE TABLE HERE AT TSH?
I would say a new perspective, especially from a design standpoint. All graphic designers have different styles, so now The Sampson House has double with me. I'm also bringing in another personality to a group of amazing ones.
