Recap: Winter Wonderland Work Retreat
Our third annual work retreat was a cozy fabulous time. We spent 5 glorious days in the beautiful Black Hills. We lucked out on the most magical weather. We had perfect snowfall each day that coated the trees and made the week look like a winter wonderland. Our days were filled with a lot to do! A little bit of work, a little bit of strategy, a little bit of relaxation, and a lot of team bonding. We are already looking forward to next year.
Destination: The Black Hills
The Stay: Sheep Hill Chalet in Lead, South Dakota
Days: 5
Distance from Sioux Falls: 11 hours round trip by car
Agenda: Relax, team bonding, catch a few marketing workshops, explore the Black Hills, drink, eat, SWOT analysis, personality tests, lots of hot chocolate.
Do:
1.) Rent a sweet ass cabin! Having a cozy haven to hang out in and come home to is key!
2.) 1880’s train in Hill City. SO quaint and SO cute.
3.) Drive all the scenic routes in the Hills. We drove Iron Mountain Road and got so lucky with all the magical snow fall. The drive was so picturesque. Got us excited for the holidays.
4.) Take time for all the cabin things - wine, hot chocolate, pj’s, a real fire place, cozy blankets, and relaxation.
5.) Prairie Berry Winery + Miner’s Brewing Company. Wine tastings, snacks and a fun atmosphere.
6.) Christmas Village! When it snows on your work retreat in the hills, you go to the Christmas Village for ornament shopping! :)
Must-Eat:
1.) Eat German food at The Sled Haus. You won’t be disappointed.
2.) Have a nice steak and seafood dinner at Legends Steakhouse in Deadwood. We ended our trip with this excellent restaurant.
3.) Home made breakfast at your cabin. We made breakfast in our cabin every morning as a team. Turns out, we didn’t set anything on fire and breakfast was always tasty.
Things learned on our trip:
1.) How to start a real fire.
2.) How to gamble. It was Gabby’s first time gambling and she won $5!!!
3.) We spent a good 6 hours one evening over wine doing a SWOT analysis for TSH. It was not only enlightening, but actually a lot of fun.
4.) Digital strategies for Insta-story, newsletters and Facebook videos.
Cheers to another wonderful work retreat! Can we go back?! xoxo TSH
