5 Tips to Up Your Instagram Photography Game
Are you looking to elevate your Instagram feed? Whether you’re building a brand or simply having a fun time sharing photographs with friends, we’re happy to help. Here are five tips for creating visually compelling and engaging photos.
1. Composition.
The easiest way to create a beautiful image is to keep things symmetrical by following the rule of thirds. We are all about using the tools already given to us so take advantage of the grid on your phone. Setting up your composition will become much easier, and you will be left with a solid and balanced image!
2. Look For The Soft Light.
Lighting is one of the most important aspects of photography and can set the mood for your image. Using soft lighting is a subtle way to make the image feel warm and dreamy. You can find natural soft light during sunrise or sunset. Love a good golden hour shoot.
3. Use Portrait Mode.
Portrait mode on the iPhone lets you create a shallow field of depth. The subject will be in focus while the background is blurred. We love this tool for product photos!
4. Details Matter.
Details give a sense of place and can add a deeper meaning to your photo. Whether you’re pointing out a juxtaposition, capturing shadows or emotion, giving more information to the viewer helps create a compelling image.
5. If you must zoom, do it right.
It’s best to get close to your subject rather than zoom in - things can get blurry. You can’t fix everything in post! However, if you find yourself needing to zoom, make sure to do it correctly. Instead of using your fingers to pinch the screen, simply press the “.5mm” button at the bottom and move the dial to 2x. This will give you an ‘optical zoom’ which means you wont loose any detail and you will have clearer results.
Happy Instagramming!
