Cosmedica Skincare: Promoting Your Business Online for Free

The digital marketing world can be super competitive and confusing, not to mention expensive. Small businesses and startups don’t always have the budget for paid ads. Luckily, there are some seriously awesome strategies to promote your business without spending a dime, and we have the proof right here.

We’ve used these tactics with our real client, Cosmedica Skincare. Since 2018, The Sampson House has been working with Cosmedica Skincare to create an impactful presence, from packaging design (check it out in person on your next Target run!) to online endeavors across Facebook, Instagram, blogs, and email.

See how we put striking branded content to use online for Cosmedica and try these tips for yourself.

1. Use Google My Business

Google My Business enables companies to manage their presence on Google Search and Google Maps. The tool can boost your rankings, especially in local search results. Create your Google My Business account using your email account, then fill out all your profile details. Your business will then be shown in the local search results for any “near me” search queries.

2. Customer Reviews

In the up-and-coming Generation C market, word-of-mouth is one of the best ways to market products. Consumers do research, ask around, and read reviews before they make the final purchase decisions. They trust the opinions of other consumers, especially in large numbers.

Encourage your happy and satisfied customers to leave a review about their experience on your social page, product page, or in public search view (Google, Yelp, etc).

As a celebrity with a huge following, Khloe Kardashian’s review brings a lot of attraction and new clients to Cosmedica Skincare.

3. Social Media - Business Account

a. Facebook

Facebook Business Page can be your secondary or even primary store. The content you post (links, photos, video or text posts) helps fans and potential customers alike get to know your brand, products, and anything else you want to promote.

b. Instagram

Instagram has more opportunities to display visual content and is a prime avenue for influencer marketing. There are so many ways to post your photos or videos. IG TV, Stories, and Story Highlights are perfect to house content like product tutorials.

You can also boost their shareability and reach by using hashtags, creating killer captions, and encouraging fans to interact with actions like "likes" or comments.

4. Website

a. Responsive Web design

Your website is online “real estate” for your business.  A professional-looking website makes you more credible and gives a great first impression. There are plenty of low-cost website building programs out there. With WordPress or Squarespace.com, for example, you can have a fully-operational website, even one for e-commerce, very quickly and cheaply.

For Cosmedica, we created a branded content for their eCommerce website.

Cosmedica’s website is the cornerstone for their brand building and marketing:

  • Generate Leads (Pop-ups/CTA buttons for subscribes)

  • Make direct sales (e-commerce website features)

  • Build authority and thought leadership in your niche

  • Use SEO (monthly blog posts) to rise in the search rankings

Pro-tip: Connect Google Analytics to your website so that you can track your website traffic and audience demographics.

b. SEO/ Blogging

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of applying some technical and content strategies to your website so that it ranks highly on search engines like Google. By writing blog content relevant to your product/service, your website is more likely to be placed higher in Google search results. Unlike search engine marketing, SEO is a totally free promoting tool.

Good SEO requires a variety of techniques including using relevant headlines, keywords related to your brand or industry, meta descriptions, etc., so search engines recognize your content is valuable to potential customers. To make your life easier, you can download this On-page SEO Template (Excel) as a handy tool. If you aren’t much of a writer, use SEMrush & Grammarly to write and check grammar. That boosts SEO too. We’ve also created the definitive guide on how to create content like a pro.

Keyword research is essential to your SEO success. You might also be interested in learning how to find the easiest keywords to rank for.

5. Email Campaign

An email newsletter can be a useful vehicle to promote your content/product, share business-related news, and nurture your leads to convert them into real customers. For every $1 you spend on email marketing, the average rate of return is $38.

There are some (free!) tools out there that assist you in designing, sending, and optimizing your newsletter. Keep your content punchy, your calls-to-action prominent, and your tone pressing to get across to your readers.

But how do you set your emails apart from 41 billion emails sent per day? We’ve gathered 7 ways to keep your emails and newsletter out of the trash bin.
